Today is Day 8 of the flood disaster here in the NSW Northern Rivers. I can tell you first hand, that our superhuman community volunteer groups, and anyone not flood affected, are continuing to work, day and night to feed, clothe, house and comfort the people in our region who have lost everything but the clothes on their backs. I can also tell you, that no matter what direction you look in, help is urgently needed so we have the resources and manpower to start what will undoubtedly be a long-term recovery. What lies ahead seems almost insurmountable. So many of you, in other parts of Australia and even internationally, have been reaching out and asking, "How can we help?". Firstly, thank-you! With all our hearts, we thank-you. And as this image, that I took in Lismore yesterday, says, "You are here". We know that you are thinking of us. But what we need right now, more than anything, is practical support. And the best way you can help make that happen is to donate to the charities and organisations that can get more people and resources on the ground here. Because, as you've probably heard, and as we are experiencing, our Government, certainly is not! So my job this morning has been to start compiling a list for you of organisations and places that are taking donations. So please, if you can, and if you are able, here's a list of options for you to consider:
